IFA Poultry Chair Calls on Bord Bia Chair to Confirm if His Company Uses Brazilian Chicken
As the IFA protest outside Bord Bia enters its fifth day, IFA Poultry Chair Brendan Soden has called on the Chair of Bord Bia Larry Murrin to confirm if his companies import Brazilian chicken as well as Brazilian beef.
“He should confirm where he gets his chicken and poultry from and what, if any, comes from Brazil,” he said.
“Poultry farmers in Brazil have little or no regulations compared to the EU. The same applies to Thailand and other countries from where chicken is being imported,” he said.
“As chair of Bord Bia we should have full transparency from Mr. Murrin,” he said.
I am therefore calling on Larry Murrin to confirm:
1. Whether Dawn Farm Foods imports poultry meat from Brazil?
2. Whether any other company in which he is a director imports poultry from Brazil?
3. What proportion of poultry used by those companies is imported versus sourced on the island of Ireland?
