West Cork Milk Price Increase Welcome

IFA National Dairy Committee Chairman Kevin Kiersey welcomed the decision by at least some of the West Cork co-ops to increase their July milk price by up to 0.94c/l + VAT.

He said that somewhat weaker markets in recent weeks, as evidenced in particular by the recent Fonterra auctions, were widely believed to result from the lower buyers’ activity during the holiday period, and that this was not necessarily a long term trend.

“I strongly believe that the worst case scenario to year end at the very least is for stable milk prices,” Kevin Kiersey said.
