
There was no change in Irish pig prices last Friday with producers reporting an average price of circa €2.28/kg for pigs sold in ROI. Some farmers, however, are securing up to 4c/kg above this average thanks to robust market conditions. Demand remains strong for pigs born and reared in Ireland, a trend expected to continue into July. Across Europe, the average price for grade E carcasses in week 25 stood at 213.2c/kg (excluding VAT), unchanged from the previous week. This represents a 1.6% rise compared to last month, although prices remain 3.4% lower than the same period last year.
