IFA Welcomes Commissioner Hogan’s Position on Cap Budget

IFA President Joe Healy has welcomed the strong position adopted by EU Commissioner Phil Hogan on the CAP Budget.

At the EU Outlook Conference in Brussels today (Monday), the Commissioner spoke about maintaining CAP funding and Member States needing to increase their budget contribution from 1.0% to 1.1% or 1.2% of EU GNI to make up the shortfall created by Brexit.

Joe Healy said it is essential that the CAP Budget is increased in line with the growth of the European economy. He said economically the EU is in a much better position than it was in 2012, when the last MFF (Multi Financial Framework) was agreed.
