IFA Pigs Chairman Calls for Reduction in Compound Feed Prices Immediately

IFA Pigs Chairman, Tim Cullinan has called on the compounders to reduce the price of compound feed immediately to reflect the lower market price of soya and wheat.

He said that some compounders were quick to increase the feed prices when soya and wheat prices were escalating over the winter and spring period. Those same compounders must now reflect the significant reductions in market prices of soya and wheat in their charges to hard pressed pig farmers still operating in a loss making situation.

IFA estimate that the price of compound feed should drop by between €20 and €30 per tonne and he called on the compounders to reflect these market realities in the prices they charge to farmers immediately.
