Re-opening of Egyptian Market Is a Significant Breakthrough – IFA
IFA President John Bryan has welcomed news that the way has been cleared for the re-opening of the Egytian market to live cattle for the first time since the 1990s.
John Bryan said agreement had been reached on a veterinary certificate between the Irish and Egyptian authorities for cattle up to 30 months of age for finishing, and up to 20 months for further fattening.
“This marks a significant breakthrough in the re-opening of the North African and Middle Eastern markets. I am calling on the industry to capitalise on this opportunity and re-establish this traditional trade, which has been a very important outlet for the livestock sector.”
