Potato Harvest Nearly Complete – Get This Week’s Prices by Variety

The potato harvest is now almost complete with small pockets left in the east and some larger areas in the north west, however with the break in the weather there will be some delay in finishing these remaining crops.

As the dust settles on the harvest, it is evident that overall production figures are down on last year however, it is very important that growers supply all markets to reduce imports.

Peeling prices are on a par with some wholesale prices therefore it makes no sense to withhold produce from this market and allowing the influx of imports. With most of the UK crop in store, producers continue to hold for higher quotes and this has been reflected in price increases of imported English chip and peeling potatoes.
