Strong Market Demand for Lambs
There is strong market demand for lambs early this week with factories paying €6.00 to €6.20/kg and top prices of €6.25/kg, according to IFA National Sheep Chairman Sean Dennehy.
He said most factories are quoting lower prices but having to up the actual paid prices to get stock. He said all of the factories are now paying to 21kgs carcase weight.
Ewes are making €3.00/kg and demand is also strong.
All of the supermarkets have now moved over to new season lamb and the main Bord Bia promotion campaign will commence on June 18th, including a new TV advertisement for lamb. He said this should drive domestic market demand.
