PotatoPotato Market Reports

Potato Market Report 4th February

Retail demand and home consumption remain stable. There is still good demand reported for packing quality Roosters and Whites. More quality issues are becoming apparent in store as the year progresses. The peeling market is currently oversupplied as a result.

Across Europe, physical markets in the European processing sector are very poor with little change. Excess to contract stocks are deemed ‘unwanted’ and any quoted prices for peeling or fresh fry production are harder to hold.

Export markets are slow but in France demand is “a little more lively”, despite difficulties with transport. In the U.K. there are indications that there will be sizeable reductions in the area of early crisping and French fry varieties.
