Mounting Concern Among Farmers at Delay in Opening Aeos

IFA President John Bryan said there was mounting concern among farmers at the delay in opening the AEOS Scheme, which has been committed for 10,000 farmers leaving REPS3.  He called on the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney to move immediately to open the Scheme as the mid-May deadline for the Single Farm Payment is fast approaching.

John Bryan said along with REPS, the AEOS has proved to be value for money, both in supporting the rural economy and jobs, and improving the environment.

He said farm families in every parish across the country are anxiously waiting for the Minister to open a Scheme equivalent to that provided last year.
