Cork IFA is holding an information event on the Revised Standards for Agricultural Vehicles and Farm Safety in Macroom Mart on Thursday, July 6th at 11am.

The outdoor event, in conjunction with An Garda Siochana, the HSA, and the Fire Service and Cork Rapid Response, will have a full display of agricultural machinery/vehicles and will outline requirements to comply with current legislation and safety hazards when working with machinery.

Gardai will attend with a weighbridge to highlight the trailer towing capacity of jeeps and other vehicles. The required lights/markings/axles for tractor trailers and other equipment using the public road will also be discussed.

The Health and Safety Authority will highlight farm safety issues, while the Fire Service will demonstrate the equipment used in farm accidents and fires.

Cork Rapid Response and Air Ambulance Crew will discuss the service they provide.

IFA Farm Family representatives will highlight the importance of safety awareness on the farm.

All are welcome to attend!

IFA Environment Chairman Thomas Cooney has said the Association will oppose excessive regulations being imposed on farmers that ignore existing obligations or add extra bureaucracy.
