Commenting on yesterday’s milk price increases from Lakeland of 1c/L and Glanbia of 0.4c/L (co-op top-up,) IFA Dairy Chairman Tom Phelan said “Any price increase is welcome, but Glanbia farmers are angry because their price expectations are not being met”.

IFA President Tim Cullinan said IFA had a constructive meeting with the Department on Friday where we stressed the importance of farmers being in the majority on the monitoring group to oversee the grass-fed PGI. It must be farmer controlled, not factory controlled.

As co-op boards gather to determine the base price for September milk, IFA Dairy Chairman Tom Phelan has urged all milk processors to return a fair price to its suppliers, especially those that offered below average prices last month.

IFA’s new Dairy Executive Aine O’Connell has taken up her role this week.  Aine O’Connell has worked at Arrabawn in farm advisory and with ICMSA.
